Brighton Pier

Saturday involved a trip to Brighton, one of my favourite cities.
Over the years it's been a sad sight seeing the old West Pier slowly falling into disrepair, before finally being battered into submission by winter storms and last years fire that finally took out the last hopes of any restoration.
It was a lovely day on Saturday, but what remains of the pier jutting out of the sea just looked so sad. It brings a lump to your throat.

Sounds like you had a good day! It's a long time since I've been to Brighton. My aunt used to live at nearby Shoreham, on the edge of the airport.
That's a terrific photo!
Have a good week. Cheers!

What a sad story for a pier you watched decline. Will they build a new one?

flighty: Brighton is always nice, just more so in the sunshine. Shoreham is nice too, and has a great art-deco airport that the train rumbles past.
Have a grand week yourself young Sir !!
nikk: It is a sad story indeed. The plans are o build one of those giant wheels like the London Eye, with maybe a token 'new' pier as a nod to the grand old pier that once was. Not sure I wholeheartedly agree with it myself.
