A guy here returned from a trip to our plant in Taiwan with bags of cookies for all !! A very welcome gesture. These are made by a company called Lins and as it says on the pack are hand made. There is a strange assortment, some even include sea-weed !!!
The packet I chose contained two very thin, very hard, square cookies, the corners and edges all neatly beveled.
The picture on the front shows just how to eat them !!!

I was given some Japanese biscuits recently which certainly looked different but tasted rather nice!
Hey, I got some Japanese cookies this Christmas too! They were delicious and not too sweet. Yum! I'm curious about the image you've posted. How did these taste?
flighty: They do look odd compared to our 'normal' cookies, but like you say they do taste good.
nikki: I can't put my finger on exactly what they taste of, but they aren't too sweet, a little like an Arrowroot cookie maybe??? But very nice with a coffee.
